Composer sends Create, Enhance, and Edit messages. The active mode controls which inputs are required.
The control row contains the mode, model, quality, image count, reference attachment, Keep prompt, and Send controls. The source image for Enhance or Edit lives in the right panel.
Each mode keeps its own prompt and composer references. Switching modes does not clear the other drafts.
After a successful send with Keep prompt off:
- The active mode's prompt and composer references clear.
- An Enhance source clears.
- An Edit source stays selected, but its mask and regions clear.
- Drafts in the other modes stay unchanged.
Turn Keep prompt on to retain the active prompt, references, Enhance source, or Edit source, mask, and regions after a successful send. This preference is stored in the current browser.
Slash commands
Slash commands can update project settings without opening a settings tab. Use lowercase commands at the start of the message.
/stylesets the Style field./scenesets the Scene field./lightingsets the Lighting field./materialssets the Materials field./entouragesets the Entourage field./shortcutsopens Composer help./helpopens the Help Center in a new tab.
Add the new value after a field command:
/lighting soft overcast daylight with long diffuse shadows
/materials pale oak, lime plaster, dark bronze frames
Keep the camera at eye level and the room quiet.
Leading field commands update the project before the render snapshot is taken. The remaining text becomes the render prompt.
You can also send field commands without a render prompt. CAD Scene updates the fields and adds an Undo event to the Feed. No render is generated or charged.
Commands are read only from the leading lines. The first normal or unknown line starts the prompt. If the same field appears more than once, the last value wins.
/shortcuts and /help are UI-only commands. When either appears among the leading command lines, CAD Scene opens its destination and removes that command line from the active draft. It does not submit a render. Any remaining prompt text, field commands, and composer references stay in place for the next send.
Keyboard shortcuts
Use Cmd on macOS. Use Ctrl on Windows and Linux.
Composer
- Cmd/Ctrl+Enter sends the active draft.
- Shift+Enter inserts a newline.
Workspace layout
- Cmd/Ctrl+K focuses the Composer prompt.
- Cmd/Ctrl+B toggles the studies rail.
- Cmd/Ctrl+. toggles the settings rail.
- Cmd/Ctrl+? opens Composer help.
Modes
- Cmd/Ctrl+1 switches to Create.
- Cmd/Ctrl+2 switches to Enhance.
- Cmd/Ctrl+3 switches to Edit.
Project fields
- Cmd/Ctrl+S saves the focused Composition field.
Global layout and mode shortcuts are suppressed while you type in an input. Composer send and newline shortcuts still work in the prompt.
Composer reference images
Select the attachment control to add visual context. Choose a render or upload from the picker, upload a new image, or attach the last render.
Composer references are separate from the Enhance or Edit source. They are also separate from the Project reference image.
Each mode keeps its own reference list. The list skips duplicates and accepts up to five images.
Reference support depends on model and mode. Every selectable model supports references in Create and Enhance. In Edit, GPT Image 2 uses only the source and mask. Switch to a Nano Banana model or remove the references.
See image roles for the complete comparison.
